Oppo’s latest flagship, the Find X9 Ultra, has been officially unveiled and is set for a UK release. While a full review is still pending, my hands-on experience with the device in China ahead of the launch event has been quite intriguing.
One standout feature of the Find X9 Ultra is its impressive camera setup, which is poised to make it one of the top camera phones of the year, if not the best. The device boasts a total of 550Mp spread across five lenses, including a groundbreaking 50Mp 10x optical telephoto lens – a first in the smartphone industry.
The design of the Find X9 Ultra is another highlight, particularly in the eye-catching Tundra Umber color variant. The vegan leather finish not only looks premium but also feels great in hand. In contrast, the Canyon Orange option, despite being thinner and lighter, doesn’t quite match up to the elegance of the Tundra Umber model.
The camera performance on the Find X9 Ultra is exceptional, delivering high-quality images that rival those taken with standalone cameras. The versatility of the camera system, which includes main, ultrawide, 3x optical, 10x optical, and selfie lenses, offers a wide range of shooting options without the need to switch lenses manually.
The battery life and charging capabilities of the Find X9 Ultra are equally impressive, with a massive 7050mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The device’s battery longevity and fast charging speeds make it a standout in the market.
However, one aspect of the Find X9 Ultra that falls short is the Quick Button feature, designed specifically for the camera. While the button’s orange color pays homage to Hasselblad cameras, its functionality leaves much to be desired. The placement of the button on the side of the phone is inconvenient, and its touch sensitivity can be finicky, leading to frustration when trying to launch the camera quickly.
Overall, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra shows great promise as a flagship device with top-of-the-line camera capabilities, premium design, and impressive battery performance. While it has its shortcomings, such as the poorly executed Quick Button, the device’s overall performance and features make it a strong contender in the smartphone market.
