The upcoming Vivo X300 Ultra is set to feature Sony’s latest flagship camera sensor, the Sony LYTIA-901. This new sensor, also known as LYT-901, is a significant upgrade for the Vivo X300 Ultra, as confirmed by the company.
The Sony LYTIA-901 is Sony’s first 200-megapixel camera sensor designed specifically for smartphones. With a 1/1.12-inch size, it is considered the best camera sensor Sony has developed so far. The main camera on the Vivo X300 Ultra will boast a 35mm focal length, allowing it to capture more light per pixel compared to its predecessor. Additionally, the stabilization has been improved from CIPA 5.0 to CIPA 6.5.
The lens design has also been enhanced with 1 glass + 6 plastic elements featuring special coatings that reduce glare by up to 30%. The Sony LYT-901 comes with advanced HDR technology, a 12-bit pipeline, and utilizes Quad-Quad Byer Coding, among other innovations.
In terms of image quality, Vivo’s ISP, processing, and collaboration with ZEISS will play a crucial role. The combination of these elements is expected to deliver exceptional camera performance, making the Vivo X300 Ultra a standout device in terms of photography.
While details about the periscope telephoto and ultrawide sensors remain undisclosed, expectations are high for a 200MP sensor for the periscope telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel unit for the ultrawide camera. Vivo showcased the Vivo X300 Ultra’s camera telephoto extender at MWC 2026, hinting at further advancements in videography. The ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra is set to enhance the telephoto capabilities of the device.
Excitingly, the Vivo X300 Ultra will be available in global markets for the first time, marking a significant expansion for the company’s ‘Ultra’ series. While an official launch date is yet to be confirmed, the phone is expected to hit the shelves by the end of this month, offering cutting-edge camera technology to users worldwide.
