Berlin knows spectacle. And on the global stage of ITB Berlin 2026, Kenya delivered one of the fair’s most evocative moments with the international launch of its new destination campaign, “Experience Wonder – Magical Kenya.” Unveiled at the world’s leading travel trade show during its landmark 60th anniversary, the campaign marked a bold evolution in how Kenya tells its story to the world.
More than a rebrand, Experience Wonder is a re‑positioning—an invitation to see Kenya not only as a land of iconic wildlife, but as a multi‑dimensional destination where culture, creativity, adventure and deep human heritage converge.

A Global Debut with Purpose
The official unveiling in Berlin served as the global premiere of the campaign’s television commercial and the starting signal for its rollout across priority international markets. Senior leaders from the Kenya Tourism Board, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, and Kenya’s diplomatic mission to Germany were present, underscoring the campaign’s strategic importance.
Speaking at the launch, H.E. Stella Mokaya Orina, Kenya’s Ambassador to Germany, highlighted why Berlin was chosen for this milestone moment.

“I’m particularly proud that our leadership in the tourism sector in Kenya chose Berlin to launch this tourism campaign ‘Magical Kenya – Origin of Wonder’. I’m also very keen, together with my staff at the embassy, to assist our stakeholders to transform the campaign into an economic reality,” she said.
Her remarks reflected a clear ambition: inspiration must translate into impact.

From Safaris to Stories
For decades, Kenya’s tourism image has been closely tied to its legendary wildlife. While those icons remain central, the new campaign deliberately broadens the narrative. Experience Wonder presents Kenya as an experience‑led destination, spotlighting culture, gastronomy, adventure tourism, sports, urban creativity and diverse natural landscapes alongside its renowned conservation areas.
John Ololtuaa, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, described the campaign as a turning point in how Kenya engages global travellers.
“We expect a lot,” he said. “We expect high sales in terms of the quality of the product.”
He emphasized that the campaign is not simply about boosting visitor numbers, but about elevating Kenya’s tourism offering by showcasing artistic and cultural experiences that have long existed, yet remained under‑represented on the global stage.

The Origin of Wonder
At the heart of the campaign is a powerful idea: Kenya as the Origin of Wonder. Drawing on its status as the cradle of humankind, the narrative positions the country as a place where some of the world’s most profound stories—human, natural and cultural—begin.
As Ololtuaa noted during the launch:
“Kenya is the origin of mankind.”
This shared heritage forms the foundation for presenting the country as a destination where wonder is not manufactured, but deeply rooted in history, landscape and living culture.

A Campaign Built for the Travel Trade
While the campaign’s imagery speaks to emotion, its structure is firmly rooted in strategy. Developed by the Kenya Tourism Board, Experience Wonder is designed to position Kenya as an all‑year‑round destination, inspire high‑value experiential travel, and support trade partners with flexible, ready‑to‑use assets.
KTB CEO June Chepkemei underscored the campaign’s role in aligning Kenya with evolving global travel preferences, particularly among experience‑driven travellers seeking immersive, meaningful and shareable journeys.

The launch also introduced the campaign to international media and trade partners simultaneously, enabling immediate adoption across airline, tour operator and destination marketing platforms.
Come Curious, Leave in Awe
As the campaign film concluded its first global screening in Berlin, the message lingered well beyond the exhibition hall. Experience Wonder – Magical Kenya does not ask travellers to simply visit—it invites them to arrive curious and depart transformed.
In choosing ITB Berlin for this global launch, Kenya made a confident statement: its story is richer than ever, its experiences deeper than expected, and its sense of wonder very much alive.
