Anthropic Seeks Investor Allocations for Latest Fundraise
Anthropic has set a deadline for investors to submit their allocations for the AI company’s upcoming fundraise within the next 48 hours, according to sources familiar with the situation. The round, which is anticipated to be around $50 billion as reported by JS, is expected to close within two weeks.
The company is aiming for a valuation of approximately $900 billion, but with the high demand from investors eager to invest in Anthropic, the final valuation could potentially surpass this figure, sources revealed.
Despite the strong interest from investors, some early backers who invested in 2024 or earlier are choosing to sit out this round. Instead, they are eyeing the possibility of cashing out during Anthropic’s anticipated IPO later this year.
This fundraising round is likely to be Anthropic’s final private round before the company goes public, with the funds intended to support its extensive computing requirements.
Anthropic recently announced that its annual revenue run rate has exceeded $30 billion. However, sources with insights into the company’s financials suggest that the actual run rate is closer to $40 billion.
In its previous funding round in February, Anthropic was valued at $380 billion. With a potential valuation of $900 billion in the current round, the company not only stands to more than double its value but also surpass its main competitor, OpenAI, which secured a record-breaking $122 billion round at an $852 billion post-money valuation earlier this year.
