Shalini Pillai Embraced Yoga To Lose Weight And Succeeded

The Beginning

Shalini Pillai struggled to shed those extra pounds until she discovered . With 10 kg to lose, her primary goal was to reach a healthy weight after undergoing surgery in July 2016. The resulting weight gain and exacerbation of existing medical conditions motivated Shalini to take action. Despite trying various weight loss methods like aerobics and cross-training, she found no success. Turning to yoga for weight loss, Shalini faced challenges due to her PCOD, IBS, and asthma. However, her determination never wavered. She began by tracking her daily calorie intake using the app.

Giving Yoga Another Shot

After using the app for a few days, Shalini received personalized coaching options. Opting for yoga, she chose Sridhar Ravi as her yoga coach and Suganya Arivazhagan as her diet coach. With their guidance, Shalini focused on yoga to lose weight, starting with Surya Namaskars. Despite stiffness and asthma limitations, Sridhar supported her in gradually incorporating more challenging asanas like Virabhadrasana and Trikonasana. The custom routine tailored to her asthma condition helped Shalini lose weight, control asthma, and alleviate back pain.

A Well Balanced Diet

Shalini’s diet, overseen by Suganya, was adjusted to meet her daily calorie needs. By consuming the right balance of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates, Shalini saw improvements in her weight loss journey. Breaking through a weight loss plateau at 80kg proved challenging until Suganya suggested exceeding her daily calorie limit of 1300, kickstarting her progress again.
