Motorola Edge 60 Review: Stuck in The Middle

The Motorola Edge 60 series presents a unique challenge with the Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 60, and Edge 60 Pro offering similar features at different price points. The focus here is on the Edge 60, which sits in the middle of the lineup. For an extra £80 compared to the Fusion, you get an upgraded camera. Is this mid-range phone worth the investment, or are there better alternatives available? Let’s dive into the details.

Design & Build
Motorola continues its trend of collaborating with Pantone to offer vibrant color options. The Edge 60 features the Pantone Gibraltar Sea color in a canvas finish, providing a unique and grippy texture. The phone boasts IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as MIL-STD 810H protection for durability. The Gorilla Glass 7i offers protection against scratches and drops. The curved display adds to the sleek profile of the phone.

Screen & Speakers
The 6.67-inch pOLED display on the Edge 60 delivers a high-resolution viewing experience with a 120Hz refresh rate. The stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support offer impressive audio quality. However, the curved display may pose touch responsiveness challenges, especially for gaming enthusiasts.

Specs & Performance
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, the Edge 60 provides smooth performance for everyday tasks. With 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage (expandable up to 1TB), the phone offers ample space for apps and files. However, Wi-Fi performance may be patchy at times, affecting gaming and streaming experiences.

Cameras
The Edge 60 features a versatile camera setup, including a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide/macro camera, a 10MP telephoto camera, and a 50MP selfie camera. While the camera performance is generally good, some issues with exposure and HDR processing may affect image quality in certain situations.

Battery Life & Charging
Equipped with a 5200mAh battery and 68W wired charging, the Edge 60 offers fast and efficient charging capabilities. The battery life is adequate for a full day of use, with the fast charging feature providing quick top-ups when needed. However, the absence of wireless charging may be a drawback for some users.

Software & Apps
The Edge 60 runs on Android 15 with Moto AI features for enhanced user experience. While the near-stock Android interface is familiar, the addition of Moto AI and pre-installed apps may not appeal to all users. The AI features offer some convenience but may feel overwhelming for those looking for a simpler interface.

Price & Availability
The Motorola Edge 60 is available at £379.99 in the UK, offering a competitive mid-range option. While there are other alternatives in the market, such as the Nothing Phone (3a) and the Galaxy A36, the Edge 60 presents a balanced mix of features and performance for its price point.

Verdict
Overall, the Motorola Edge 60 delivers a solid performance in various aspects but falls short of standing out in a crowded mid-range market. While it offers good value for the price, there are other compelling options available that may better suit specific preferences and requirements. Consider your priorities, such as gaming, design, or longevity, before making a decision on whether the Edge 60 is the right choice for you.
