Have you ever gotten your car stuck, in mud, or like those of us in Colorado, snow? You rock your car back and forth to get traction, but your tires spin, and you get nowhere.

Husbands and wives can get stuck like that. In anger, so you’re always battling each other. Or busyness, so you never have the time or energy to connect. Or maybe like my guests on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly, Justin and Trisha Davis, you’re stuck in the saddest rut of all: apathy – you’ve given up and stopped fighting for your marriage.

Justin and Trisha married when they were barely into their 20s. They were young, idealistic, and unaware of what marriage is really all about. Ten years into their marriage, Justin confessed to having an affair with Trisha’s best friend. His admission was motivated by resignation, not regret or repentance. He was done with their marriage and wanted to be with the other woman.

Justin and Trisha join me in the studio to share their story of rising from the ashes to reignite their emotional connection as a couple and fight for their marriage again. They also share how they fixed their marriage by addressing the patterns of dysfunction and sinful behavior that eroded their relationship in the first place.

Justin and Trisha are pastors, authors and the founders of RefineUs Ministries, which exists to help people build – or rebuild – healthy, authentic relationships.

Before I close, if you’re on the brink of divorce, our Hope Restored marriage intensives can go a long way toward facilitating healing between you and your spouse and restoring your relationship.
