Sarah Zagorski believes abortion is wrong – because she survived being aborted herself.
In 1990, Sarah’s mother fit the cultural criteria for an abortion: she was living in extreme poverty and enduring domestic violence, and already had 11 children. When she became pregnant with Sarah, she underwent a second-trimester induction abortion at 26.5 weeks gestation. The procedure failed, and Sarah was born alive. After a neonatal intensive care unit saved Sarah’s life, she went home to an unstable environment marked by poverty, abuse, and parental neglect. At 16 months old, she was placed in foster care and spent seven and a half years in the Louisiana foster care system.
By God’s grace, she was adopted at age nine by a loving family and has spent years advocating for adoption over abortion. Sarah currently serves as the Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications for Americans United for Life. She has also held leadership positions with Colorado Family Action, a policy partner of Focus on the Family, and Colorado Citizens for Life. In 2022, Sarah published her story through Moody Publishers to investigate the complex factors that influence abortion decisions.
Sarah is joining me on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly to share her testimony of survival, hope, and her journey of forgiveness for both her biological mother and her abortionist.
