Amazon Expands AI Offerings Following OpenAI/Microsoft Agreement
OpenAI made waves in the tech world when it announced that Microsoft no longer held exclusive rights to its products, prompting Amazon to make moves in the AI space.
After the revised agreement between OpenAI and Microsoft was revealed, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy took to Twitter to comment on the development, calling it a “very interesting announcement.” The new agreement addresses the issue of AWS offering OpenAI products, which became a concern after OpenAI signed a significant deal with Amazon.
Amazon wasted no time in capitalizing on the situation, announcing that its AI app building and model-choosing service, Bedrock, now features OpenAI’s latest models, Codex code-writing service, and a new offering for creating AI agents powered by OpenAI. The new service, Bedrock Managed Agents, is tailored to utilize OpenAI’s reasoning models, providing functionalities like agent steering and enhanced security.
In a blog post, Amazon emphasized the beginning of a deeper collaboration between AWS and OpenAI, hinting at more innovations on the horizon.
The dynamics of the Microsoft/OpenAI relationship have been shifting, with both companies seeking partnerships with their rivals. OpenAI has turned to AWS and Oracle, while Microsoft has partnered with Anthropic and is working on a new agent offering powered by Claude.
