In the United States, Lay’s will introduce three limited-edition flavors inspired by international cuisines. These flavors, including Lay’s Argentinian‑Style Steak with Chimichurri, Lay’s Brazilian‑Style Garlic Sauce, and Lay’s Wavy French Onion Soup, will be available at retailers nationwide and on TikTok Shop starting in early May.

This launch provides Lay’s with an opportunity to bring diverse regional flavors to consumers participating in the global event. A recent survey conducted by Lay’s revealed that 70% of Americans consider the brand a staple when gathering to watch significant sporting events.

Chips have proven to be a versatile platform for brands like Lay’s and Pringles to experiment with different shapes, textures, and flavors that cater to local preferences. As consumers, particularly younger demographics, seek out new and globally-inspired flavors in their food choices, chips offer a convenient and appealing option.

Remitly’s Homesick Tea Collection

With millions of expatriates residing in the United States, Remitly has launched a new tea line aimed at providing comfort to those experiencing homesickness. The limited-edition teas, inspired by iconic comfort foods from around the world, include flavors such as Mexican tacos, British fish and chips, Indian milk sweets (mithai), and German flavored rye sourdough (bauernbrot).

The idea for these unique tea offerings stemmed from Remitly’s exploration of homesickness triggers and the significance of food and drink in evoking emotional connections. Research indicated that 54% of individuals miss the flavors of their home country the most, prompting Remitly to leverage tea, the second most consumed beverage globally after water, to tap into these nostalgic flavors.

While the teas are not available in stores, tea enthusiasts can claim these distinctive flavors through weekly drops scheduled until May 15. Ryan Riley, Vice President of Marketing at Remitly, emphasized the role of food and drink in fostering a sense of comfort, familiarity, and belonging, which inspired the creation of this unexpected tea collection.

Indulging in Tropical Delights with Captain Morgan

Captain Morgan rum is inviting consumers to embark on a virtual tropical getaway with the launch of its canned piña coladas. As part of a variety pack that includes classic piña colada as well as strawberry, mango, and passionfruit flavors, the Diageo-owned rum brand aims to provide consumers with refreshing and convenient options for indulging in micro getaway moments.

Victoria David, Brand Director of Ready-to-Drink (RTD) at Diageo, highlighted the appeal of simple yet enjoyable experiences that break from the routine without complicating the moment. The Captain Morgan Sliced Colada line, with 5% alcohol-by-volume per can, is now available at select retailers nationwide, with a 12-count variety pack retailing for $18.99.

In 2024, Captain Morgan ventured into the ready-to-drink market with a focus on tropical flavors to distinguish itself in this competitive space. The brand’s foray into RTD offerings aligns with the growing trend of premixed cocktails and beverages, catering to consumers seeking convenient and flavorful options for their drinking preferences.

Ready-to-drink and ready-to-serve offerings have become a significant revenue stream for alcohol companies amidst changing consumption patterns. Diageo’s Casamigos brand recently introduced a premixed margarita, reflecting the rapid growth of this category within the RTD market.

By exploring new flavors, innovative product lines, and convenient beverage options, brands like Lay’s, Remitly, and Captain Morgan are catering to evolving consumer preferences and providing unique experiences that resonate with a diverse audience.
