Samsung recently released a software update for its Galaxy S26 series, addressing security issues and bringing the February 2026 update. Another update with the March 2026 security patch was expected. However, reports indicate that a new update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in China was quickly halted after its rollout.

According to popular tipster Ice Universe, the software update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in China was released on March 20, featuring firmware version S9480ZCU1AZCG and weighing 982.88MB. The update aimed to improve system stability and reliability, as indicated in the Chinese changelog.

Despite the potential benefits of the update, Samsung halted its rollout shortly after its release. While no official explanation has been provided by Samsung, rollbacks like this usually occur due to emergency issues discovered post-rollout.

It is anticipated that Samsung will resume the rollout once any issues causing the pause are resolved. The translated changelog indicates that the update is still based on the February 2026 security patch.

In a separate development, the first internal build of One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 Ultra has surfaced, hinting at features based on Google’s upcoming Android 17 OS. The early build resembles the current One UI 8.5, with noticeable changes to the volume and brightness sliders in the quick panel.

The upcoming version of One UI 9 is expected to introduce split notifications, lock screen widgets, and more enhancements. The stable version of One UI 9 may make its debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 later this year.
