AMD Unveils New AI Processors at CES 2026

During her keynote at CES 2026, Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, emphasized the potential of compute to bring AI to everyone. As a step towards this vision, AMD introduced a new line of AI processors, recognizing AI-powered personal computers as the future of computing.

The highlight of the announcement was the introduction of the AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series processor, the latest iteration of AMD’s AI-powered PC chips. According to the company, these new processors offer 1.3 times faster multitasking capabilities compared to competitors and are 1.7 times faster at content creation.

Featuring 12 CPU Cores and 24 threads, the Ryzen AI 400 Series processor marks a significant upgrade from the previous Ryzen AI 300 Series processor released in 2024. AMD first launched the Ryzen processor series back in 2017.

Rahul Tikoo, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s client business, mentioned in a recent press briefing that AMD has expanded to over 250 AI PC platforms, representing a 2x growth compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, Tikoo highlighted the role of AI in transforming computing at a personal level, stating, “Our AI PCs and devices will transform how we work, how we play, how we create, and how we connect with each other.”

AMD Introduces Ryzen 7 9850X3D Processor

In addition to the Ryzen AI 400 Series processor, AMD also announced the launch of the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor, designed for gaming enthusiasts. Tikoo emphasized the impact of AI on everyday computing, noting that AI can enhance user interactions with PCs through understanding, context learning, automation, reasoning, and personalization.
