The landscape of television is evolving rapidly, with streaming services becoming the new norm over traditional cable. Sky has made a significant move by halting new sales of the Sky Q box on their website, marking a shift towards their other offerings like Sky Glass, Sky Glass Air, and Sky Stream. This decision, first noticed on December 10, 2025, has sparked curiosity among existing Sky Q customers regarding the future support for their devices.

Concerns about the discontinuation of support for Sky Q boxes have been addressed on the Sky forum page. According to a Sky Community Manager, existing customers need not worry as support for their Sky Q boxes remains unaffected. Despite the removal of new purchases online, software updates and support for current Sky Q users will continue as usual through online management tools and the My Sky App.

For new customers wondering if they can still sign up for Sky Q, the answer is yes. Although online purchases are no longer available, customers can still order Sky Q by contacting Sky directly or visiting one of their retail stores. The appeal of Sky Q lies in its ability to provide local recordings, seamless live sports viewing, and simultaneous recording of multiple shows. However, alternatives like Sky Glass and Sky Stream offer different advantages such as no dish requirement, compact setup, flexibility in contracts, and all-in-one entertainment solutions.

In conclusion, while the discontinuation of new Sky Q sales may signal a shift in focus for Sky, existing customers can rest assured that their devices will continue to receive support. New customers still have the option to experience Sky Q by reaching out to Sky through alternative channels. The decision to explore different Sky products ultimately depends on individual preferences and needs, whether it be traditional set-top boxes, internet-based services, or all-in-one TV solutions.
