Elon Musk and Sam Altman Engage in Social Media Feud Over Tesla Roadster Refund

Elon Musk and Sam Altman, both former founders at OpenAI, have found themselves embroiled in a public spat on Musk’s social media platform X. Altman, who currently serves as the CEO of OpenAI, recently took to Twitter to share his frustration over a delayed refund for a Tesla Roadster reservation he made back in 2018.

In a series of tweets, Altman detailed his experience trying to cancel his reservation and request a refund of his $50,000 deposit, only to have his email bounce back. He expressed his disappointment, stating, “I really was excited for the car! And I understand delays. But 7.5 years has felt like a long time to wait.”

The second-generation Roadster, which was first announced in November 2017, has faced multiple delays, with Musk promising a new version to be unveiled by the end of the year. Musk responded to Altman’s tweets by accusing him of “stealing a nonprofit,” a claim that he has previously made against Altman and OpenAI.

In addition to their public feud, Musk has also launched a rival AI startup called xAI, which is currently suing OpenAI and Apple for allegedly colluding to stifle competition. Altman has dismissed these accusations, claiming that Musk manipulates X to benefit his own companies and harm his competitors.

Despite the ongoing tensions between the two tech titans, Musk later revealed that Altman had received a refund within 24 hours of their exchange. The saga continues as Musk and Altman trade barbs on social media, with no end in sight to their public feud.
