YouTube Premium, the subscription service that offers an ad-free experience to users, is increasing its prices in the US. According to a report by Tech Advisor, individual plans will now cost $15.99 per month, up from $13.99, while family plans will be priced at $26.99 per month, up from $22.99.
These price changes will affect existing subscribers starting in June 2026, while new users are already being charged the updated rates. The Lite plan, which was previously $7.99 per month, will now be $8.99 per month.
The decision to raise prices may not be well-received by users, but it is not unexpected. YouTube Premium has not increased its subscription fees since 2023, unlike other streaming services like Netflix, which regularly adjust their pricing.
If the new prices are too high for you, there is the option to cancel or pause your subscription for up to six months. This can be done through your YouTube account settings under the Membership section.
In addition to these changes, YouTube has recently introduced unskippable ads for some users, adding to the evolving landscape of the platform. It will be interesting to see how these adjustments impact user behavior and the overall streaming experience on YouTube.
