YouTube has introduced a range of new features for its Premium subscribers, expanding access to these enhancements across various devices. These updates include modifications to playback speed, improved audio quality, and additional functionalities for Shorts, making previously tested features widely available.
Control and clarity are at the forefront of these updates, with Premium members now able to adjust video playback speeds up to 4x, with precise increments as small as 0.05x. This detailed control is now accessible on all primary platforms, including Android, iOS, and the web.
In terms of music content, the experience has been enriched with the expansion of High-Quality Audio streaming at 256kbps. This feature, previously exclusive to the YouTube Music app, is now fully integrated into the main YouTube app on both Android and iOS. This enhancement is specifically applicable to official or premium music videos and “Art Tracks,” enhancing the overall listening experience for eligible content.
YouTube has also enhanced viewing functionality, particularly on larger screens. The Jump Ahead feature, which allows users to skip to key or frequently viewed parts of a video, is now fully available on Smart TVs and gaming consoles. This improvement offers users better control when navigating through lengthy content in a living room setting.
Furthermore, iOS users can now enjoy a couple of functional upgrades for short-form videos:
– Shorts Picture-in-Picture (PiP): iOS users can now enable PiP for Shorts, allowing the video to continue playing in a small, movable window while browsing through other content on their device.
– Shorts Smart Downloads: This intelligent feature, now fully available on iOS, automatically downloads a selection of Shorts based on the user’s viewing history. This ensures that content is readily available for viewing even when the device is offline.
These new features and enhancements aim to provide YouTube Premium subscribers with a more seamless and enriched viewing experience across a wider range of devices.
