Uber to Acquire Getir’s Delivery Business in Turkey
Uber has recently announced its agreement to acquire the delivery business of Getir, a once-prominent success story in Turkey’s startup scene. The deal involves an initial payment of $335 million for Getir’s food delivery division, with an additional $100 million investment for a 15% stake in Getir’s grocery, retail, and water delivery operations. Uber plans to finalize the acquisition of these sectors over the coming years.
Getir’s largest shareholder, the Emirati sovereign wealth fund Mubadala, is selling the business to Uber. Mubadala had been exploring the sale of its stake in Getir in the previous year.
Getir experienced significant growth since its inception in 2015, expanding its operations in the U.S. and Europe through strategic investments and acquisitions. However, following a decline in consumer demand for delivery services post-pandemic, Getir made the decision to downsize its international operations in 2024 and focus on its core market in Turkey.
Last year, Getir faced internal challenges related to a restructuring plan proposed by Mubadala, leading to a legal dispute between the company’s co-founders. Despite these obstacles, Getir has raised substantial funding and maintained a valuation of $374 million for its group assets.

“This transaction reflects the strength of the business and the progress it has made, particularly over the last year,” stated Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, deputy group CEO at Mubadala.
Uber intends to integrate Getir’s delivery services with Trendyol Go, a Turkish food and grocery delivery platform acquired by Uber for $700 million in May 2025. The acquisition of Getir’s food delivery business alone generated over $1 billion in gross bookings in 2025, marking a 50% increase from the previous year.
Uber’s delivery business reported a revenue of $4.89 billion in the fourth quarter, showing a 30% growth compared to the previous year. The company identified Europe, the Middle East, and Asia as its fastest-growing regions for the delivery services in 2026.
