Former Co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab Joins Meta
Thinking Machines Lab, an AI startup founded by Mira Murati, former CTO of OpenAI, recently faced a setback as one of its co-founders, Andrew Tulloch, decided to depart for Meta.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Tulloch shared his departure news with employees in a message last Friday. A spokesperson from Thinking Machines Lab confirmed Tulloch’s decision, stating that he chose to explore a different path for personal reasons.
Earlier this year, there were reports that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, made an offer to acquire Thinking Machines Lab as part of his AI recruitment efforts. When this acquisition attempt failed, Zuckerberg allegedly extended a lucrative compensation package to Tulloch, potentially valued at $1.5 billion over a minimum of six years. (Meta denied the accuracy of this claim in response to media reports.)
Prior to his time at Thinking Machines Lab, Tulloch had worked at prominent AI research organizations such as OpenAI and Facebook’s AI Research Group.
