Heartland Food Products Group Acquires SlimFast US Brand
Heartland Food Products Group, a leading producer of low-calorie sweeteners and beverages, has recently announced its acquisition of the SlimFast US brand from Glanbia PLC. While the financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, this move marks a significant development in the health and wellness industry.
Previously owned by Glanbia, SlimFast was acquired from Kainos Capital for $350 million in 2018. However, due to challenges faced in the weight management category, Glanbia decided to designate SlimFast as a non-core brand in February 2025 and subsequently put it up for sale, as reported by Reuters.
With the addition of SlimFast to its existing portfolio, which includes the popular Splenda brand, Heartland aims to further its commitment to providing consumers with healthier alternatives without compromising on taste. The Splenda brand offers a range of zero-calorie sweetener products, including stevia and monk fruit powders, coffee creamers, nutrition shakes, and water enhancers.
According to Ted Gelov, the chairman and CEO of Heartland, “The addition of SlimFast to the Heartland family, alongside our Splenda brand reinforces our commitment to helping consumers live healthier, more balanced lives. Both brands share a common purpose, empowering people to make better choices without sacrificing taste or enjoyment. Together, we can deliver trusted solutions in weight management and sugar reduction, two of the biggest consumer needs shaping the future of nutrition.”
