Spicy Menu Offerings Heat Up the Foodservice Industry
Foodservice operators are capitalizing on the increasing demand for spicy foods as consumers seek out bold and flavorful options.
Taco Bell, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, is expanding its spicy menu with the introduction of the Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito. This new item features Flamin’ Hot Rice, a blend of rice mixed with Fritos Flamin’ Hot chips, red peppers, cheddar cheese powder, garlic, paprika, and lime, topped with nacho cheese sauce, seasoned beef, creamy chipotle sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, and a three-cheese blend. Additionally, Taco Bell has partnered with Frank’s RedHot to launch a line of crispy chicken products featuring Frank’s diablo sauce.
Liz Matthews, global chief food innovation officer at Taco Bell, expressed excitement about the new offerings, stating, “We know how much love there is for the signature spice of Flamin’ Hot, and our fans are always looking for cheesier, crunchier menu items from us. The Flamin’ Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito brings all these elements together.”
Marco’s Pizza is also spicing things up with its revamped fiery flavors line. The updated menu features a new Carolina reaper cheese blend made from Carolina reaper, habanero, and jalapeño peppers. Menu items include the fiery pepperoni pizza, fiery Old World sausage and peppers pizza, fiery cheesy bread, and inferno cheesy bread.
Marta DeAguiar, vice president of brand and field marketing at Marco’s Pizza, stated, “Spice lovers spoke, and we listened — the fiery flavors menu is back to bring the heat just as the temperatures cool down.”
Noodles & Company has introduced chili garlic ramen to its menu, drawing inspiration from popular ramen and instant noodle customization videos on social media. The dish combines buttery noodles with a garlic chili spice blend, offering a bold and flavorful experience for guests.
