With one of the hottest summers on record, London is alive with enticing activities. During a recent trip to the capital, I carefully researched and then enjoyed a series of experiences to immerse myself in all that the city has to offer.

Skuna Boat

Starting in London’s glittering Canary Wharf district, a unique adventure awaited. Acting as captain, I was ready to take my friends on an unforgettable journey: cruising canals on a Skuna self-driving hot-tub boat! The wood-fired boat is heated to a cosy 38°C, and with a bottle of bubbly loaded, we set off on our 90-minute voyage, filled with laughter and many envious glances from onlookers. If the hot tub isn’t your thing, there are also barbecue boats, Igloo Fondue boats, and the brand-new Sauna Boat, featuring a wood-fired sauna, a 6°C cold plunge pool, and stunning views of the city.

Glass Boat

From sailing the waters to soaring high above them, the IFS Cloud Cable Car offers another unique London experience. As the cable car cabin sways gently 90 metres above the Thames, you’re treated to the classic city skyline, including the O₂, Canary Wharf, Olympic Park – but with the added thrill of seeing the river directly beneath your feet. That fleeting jolt of apprehension as you glance down, followed by the liberating calm of taking in the sweeping waterway, feels like defying gravity in a uniquely London way. The prepaid, priority-access cabin seats up to six people. Whether you’re a local or visitor, the experience blends striking architecture, engineering prowess, and emotional impact, leaving you buzzing and deeply connected to the city below.

High tea at Fortnum & Mason

Afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason combines centuries-old tradition with impeccable service and luxury. Situated in the heart of Piccadilly, this iconic British institution has been serving fine teas since 1707, and its elegant Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon—opened by Queen Elizabeth II—provides a refined setting for the ritual. Guests enjoy perfectly brewed teas from an extensive selection, alongside freshly baked scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and exquisite pastries—all crafted with the highest quality ingredients. Insider tip: if you finish your pot early, order a second to sample another of the rare teas on offer.

Everything you need to plan your trip in 2025

Wicked: London Theatre

Visiting Wicked is a theatre-lover’s must because it offers a dazzling blend of powerful storytelling, spectacular staging, and unforgettable music at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The award-winning musical tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, adding depth and emotion to a world audiences thought they knew. With stunning costumes, jaw-dropping special effects, and the iconic song “Defying Gravity,” Wicked delivers a theatrical experience that’s both visually breathtaking and emotionally moving. Prime seats sell out quickly thanks to the recent namesake blockbuster, so be sure to book early.

Regent’s Park Canal

Walking along the Regent’s Canal from Camden to Little Venice is a peaceful and picturesque escape from the bustle of central London. Starting at vibrant Camden Market, the path quickly quiets as you follow the towpath beside calm, tree-lined waters, passing colourful houseboats, hidden gardens, and charming bridges. The route passes iconic spots like Regent’s Park and the scenic backdrops of Primrose Hill, with reflections of the city in the canal. Arriving in Little Venice, with its tranquil waters and pretty cafés, the walk feels like a hidden journey through one of London’s most unexpectedly serene and scenic routes—book ahead for breakfast or lunch at La Ville Café for the most Instagram-worthy eatery in town.
