Samsung introduced the innovative Now Bar feature alongside the launch of the Galaxy S25 flagship series earlier this year. While the One UI 7 update extended the Now Bar experience to more Samsung devices, foldable cover screen devices like the Galaxy Z Flip were left without support. However, with the release of the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 series, the Now Bar app is now supported out of the box, thanks to One UI 8.
Currently, Samsung’s Now Bar supports 20 apps, but according to a report by Android Authority, the company plans to increase app support to 35 by the end of the year.
According to reports, Samsung’s Now Bar feature will soon support 35 applications in One UI 8. The “Device Experience Guide” for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 now officially mentions that the Now Bar feature can display real-time alerts on the cover screen. Additionally, the same page indicates that app support for Now Bar will expand from 20 to 35 in One UI 8 by the end of the year.
The current list of apps supported by Samsung’s Now Bar feature includes Now Brief, Media Player, Timer, Stopwatch, Interpreter, Voice Recorder, Notes, Exercise, Current Mode, Emergency Sharing, SmartThings TV remote control, Call, Do Not Disturb, Wallets (tickets), Google Sports, Google Maps, Uber, Uber Eats, and Waymo.
While Samsung has not disclosed the list of devices that will support the Now Bar feature in the future, it is anticipated that Android 16’s “Live Notifications” functionality will enable support, serving as the foundation for the One UI 8 experience.
