Smartphone battery life is a topic that always sparks discussion among users. We all desire devices that can last longer, not just for a day but for years of dependable use. Recently, the European Union introduced a new energy label program that sheds light on the true lifespan of phone batteries. According to the data, Samsung seems to have a significant advantage when it comes to the number of charging cycles their phone batteries can endure.

The EU’s new regulations aim to increase transparency by requiring manufacturers to disclose the rated number of charging cycles their smartphone batteries can withstand before degrading to 80% of their original capacity. While the standard baseline is set at 800 cycles, some companies are surpassing this expectation. It is important to note that a ‘charging cycle’ refers to charging the battery from 0 to 100%.

In a recent report from the European Union, it was revealed that Samsung’s latest phones, including models from the Galaxy S25 series, are capable of an impressive 2,000 charge cycles. This sets a new standard for battery longevity in the industry. Samsung has focused on technology that enhances cell longevity rather than simply increasing mAh capacity, and it is evident that their efforts are paying off.

Comparatively, Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, is rated for 1,000 charge cycles, while Google’s Pixel phones have a rating of 500 charge cycles. This places Samsung in a favorable position within the mobile industry, as their batteries can support twice as many charging cycles as the newest iPhones and up to four times more than Pixel devices.

The higher charge cycle rating of Samsung phones directly translates to a longer usable lifespan for the battery. This can result in reduced long-term battery replacement costs and encourage users to retain their devices for a longer period, benefiting both their wallets and the environment.

While actual battery lifespan may vary based on individual usage patterns, the manufacturer-provided data supported by EU guidelines highlights Samsung’s advantage in terms of battery endurance. For users who prioritize long-term phone ownership and battery health, this information makes a compelling case for considering Samsung’s latest offerings.
