Exciting News for Roku TV Owners: More Free Channels Coming Soon!
If you’re a proud owner of a Roku Streaming Stick or a TV with the Roku OS built in, get ready for a major upgrade that will enhance your viewing experience with a plethora of new TV shows and films, all at no cost.
Starting next month in October, the Roku TV system will introduce its first set of FAST (free ad-supported) channels, totaling to 40 channels. These channels do not require any subscriptions or sign-ups, allowing you to effortlessly explore and discover content that appeals to you.
Some of the exciting channels making their way to Roku TV devices in the UK include:
- PGA Tour (golf)
- This Old House (home and garden)
- Unsolved Mysteries (crime)
- NatureTime (wildlife)
- Love Pets (animals)
- Various channels focused on entertainment, lifestyle, true crime, classic TV, documentaries, and more
FAST channels on Roku TVs and streaming sticks have already been a hit in the US, offering a diverse range of content akin to traditional broadcast TV channels, catering to specific genres and shows.
For instance, US Roku users can enjoy a 24/7 classic Doctor Who channel or indulge in Hallmark channel’s feel-good movies. There are also dedicated channels for kids featuring beloved characters like the Teletubbies and Bob the Builder.
While the exact lineup for the UK remains undisclosed, more information is expected to be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
Access to these channels will be available through The Roku Channel app, along with the Live TV Zone – a new section previously unavailable in the UK. This feature will include a TV guide showcasing live content, transforming the Roku experience into a more traditional TV viewing experience.
It is hoped that Roku will also incorporate popular channels like BBC One, ITV, and Channel 4 into the Live TV Zone section for easier navigation of current programming.
For our US readers, don’t miss out on the fantastic selection of free films currently available on Samsung TVs this month.
