Rise Baking Co. Announces Expansion Plans in Utah
Rise Baking Co., based in Minneapolis, is set to increase its production capacity by expanding its plant in Pleasant View, Utah. This expansion comes as part of the company’s strategy to optimize its manufacturing network and grow its product offerings, particularly in the pie category. In addition to the expansion in Pleasant View, Rise also plans to close its facility in Kent, Washington.
Major Expansion in Pleasant View
The expansion in Pleasant View will see Rise adding approximately 115,000 square feet of new manufacturing space. This significant investment aims to enhance operational efficiency, consistency, and long-term growth opportunities for the company. By consolidating more production in Pleasant View, Rise hopes to align its manufacturing capacity more closely with customer demand.
The expansion project is expected to be completed this year. The Pleasant View plant, which currently spans 142,000 square feet and specializes in cookies and icings, will now also focus on increasing pie production capacity. Rise’s signature buttercremes will continue to be a key offering from the facility.
Mark McNeil, CEO of Rise Baking, emphasized the importance of building a smarter and more efficient manufacturing network to better serve customers. He highlighted the company’s commitment to quality and consistency, stating that the expansion in Pleasant View will support future growth while optimizing pie production capabilities.
Closure of Kent Facility
As part of its efforts to streamline its manufacturing footprint, Rise will be closing its pie production plant in Kent in the near future. The decision to close the Kent facility was made after careful consideration, with the company acknowledging the impact on employees and their families. Rise is committed to supporting affected employees through severance packages and retention benefits, as well as opportunities to explore other roles within the organization.
The Pleasant View expansion is expected to create 170 new jobs in the community, offering opportunities for growth and development. The project will also include significant infrastructure upgrades to enhance environmental sustainability, such as advanced wastewater management systems and energy-saving efficiencies.
