By applying the theory of embodied cognition, Yang and Wang suggested that martial arts training facilitates the integration of internal psychological processes with external physical movements, leading to a sense of harmony and unity.

The researchers emphasized that Tai Chi Chuan, a form of Chinese martial arts, embodies the philosophy of gentleness, promoting emotional regulation, stress management, and overall well-being. They underscored the importance of integrating physical movement with breath, self-regulation, and philosophical principles, transcending mere self-defense to encompass a holistic approach to personal growth and development.

The study’s findings shed light on the broader implications of martial arts as a form of holistic physical education, emphasizing its role in enhancing the overall quality of life. By cultivating a sense of purpose and resilience in adolescents, Tai Chi Chuan serves as a protective factor against mental health challenges, fostering a positive mindset and self-assurance.
