Outlander, a series known for its fiery romance and epic battles, is coming to an end with its eighth and final season. The show follows the story of Claire, a 20th-century nurse, and Jamie, an 18th-century Scottish Highlander, as they navigate love, time travel, and political intrigue.
But fear not, fans of the beloved series, as Starz has announced a spin-off called Blood of My Blood, which will delve into the lives of Claire and Jamie’s parents, expanding the Outlander universe even further.
The eighth season of Outlander is set to premiere on Starz in the US on Friday, March 6, 2026, and on MGM+ in the UK on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The season will consist of 10 episodes, with new episodes releasing weekly.
In the US, viewers can catch the series on the Starz streaming service, with a monthly subscription of $10.99 or an annual plan for $69.99. In the UK, Outlander is available on the MGM+ channel via Amazon Prime Video for £4.49, with a 7-day free trial.
The eighth season will be based on Diana Gabaldon’s ninth book, “Go Tell The Bees That I’m Gone,” set during the American Revolutionary War. Jamie and Claire will find themselves back at Fraser’s Ridge, facing new challenges and family secrets that threaten to tear them apart.
One of the major mysteries that season 8 will address is the fate of Faith, Claire and Jamie’s youngest child. In previous seasons, Faith was believed to be stillborn, but a surprising revelation in the season 7 finale hints at the possibility of her survival.
As the story unfolds, fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the epic saga of Outlander, filled with love, sacrifice, and the enduring bond between Jamie and Claire. Don’t miss the final season as it takes viewers on a journey through time, war, and the ultimate test of loyalty and devotion. Claire, who is in the process of recovering after her surgery, has a dream where she encounters Raymond. In this dream, Raymond offers her an apology, although the specifics of what he is apologizing for remain unclear.
Speculations among fans suggest that Raymond, a practitioner of magic, may have been involved in bringing Faith back to life. However, for reasons unknown, he kept this information hidden from Jamie and Claire. As time passed, Faith grew up and eventually became the mother of Frances and Jane.
When questioned about Faith’s fate, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts hinted that Season 8 of the series will shed light on this mystery. He mentioned in an interview with TV Line, “You’ll get the answers in season 8. Obviously it’s a cliffhanger, but hopefully we tie it up in a bow with the answers and the explanations and what happens and the ramifications of all that on Jamie and Claire.”
In anticipation of the upcoming season, titled “Go Tell The Bees That I’m Gone,” viewers can expect to see familiar faces returning to reprise their roles. The cast members expected to make a comeback include CaitrÃona Balfe as Claire, Sam Heughan as Jamie, Sophie Skelton as Brianna, Richard Rankin as Roger, John Bell as Ian Fraser Murray, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, and David Berry as Lord John Grey.
Unfortunately, Tobias Menzies, who portrayed both Frank and Black Jack Randall, will not be returning for Season 8. Additionally, Kristen Atherton, who played Jamie’s sister Jenny in the previous season, will not be featured due to storyline adjustments. New additions to the cast for Season 8 include Kieran Bew as Captain Charles Cunningham, Frances Tomelty as Elspeth Cunningham, and Carla Woodcock as Amaranthus Grey.
As for the future of the series, there will not be a Season 9. The eighth season is set to conclude the epic love story of Jamie and Claire. However, fans can look forward to a prequel currently in production at Starz, offering a new perspective on the Outlander universe.
For those eager for more Outlander content, stay tuned for Season 8 and explore the expanding world of this beloved series.
