The beta version of One UI 8 is now being released to selected Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Users in South Korea, such as Tarun Vats, have reported that the One UI 8 Beta Program is now available for Samsung Galaxy S25 users. The beta program is also rolling out to eligible Samsung Galaxy S25+ and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra users who are part of the beta program.
Additionally, Nathanial Bowling has reported that the One UI 8 beta is also being distributed in the US. Both users have shared screenshots of the new software being downloaded and installed on their devices.
This early version of the UI is based on the yet-to-be-released Android 16 OS by Google. It requires 3.38GB of storage space and includes the May 1, 2025 security patch.

What can users expect from One UI 8?
Initial impressions of One UI 8 suggest that there are not major changes to Samsung’s user interface. Features include enhanced animations, the ability to adjust regional preferences independently from the phone’s language settings, more adaptive wallpapers, and Google’s enhanced Live Updates through the Now Bar.
While there is no confirmed release date for One UI 8 yet, it is expected to launch sooner than initially anticipated. Samsung’s Head of Smartphone Planning, Minseok Kang, announced that “This summer, the all-new Android 16 will be coming to Samsung devices,” following Google’s decision to move up the release of Android 16 to June.
This quick turnaround for Samsung follows delays in the rollout of One UI 7, which experienced issues on older Galaxy devices and reports of excessive battery drain.
