Exciting Upgrades Coming to Google Pixel Phones with ‘Now Playing’ Feature
Google Pixel phones have always been known for their innovative features, and one of the standout functionalities is ‘Now Playing’. This feature, introduced in 2017, automatically identifies songs playing in the background without the need for an internet connection, setting it apart from other music recognition apps like Shazam.
While ‘Now Playing’ is incredibly convenient, one common complaint has been the limited information displayed on the lock screen. Users are only provided with the song title and artist name, missing out on additional details.

Fortunately, a recent report suggests that this may change soon. A new version of ‘Now Playing’ has been spotted in an early build of upcoming Pixel software, featuring album artwork and improved functionality. Users will now have the option to add songs to their favorites with a single tap, enhancing the overall user experience.

While these upgrades are exciting, there is no guarantee that they will be rolled out to all Pixel devices in the near future. Currently available in the experimental ‘Android Canary’ program, the feature may undergo further refinement before being released to the public.
In addition to aesthetic enhancements, many users are hoping that Google will also address the functionality issues with ‘Now Playing’. Despite its potential, the feature has been inconsistent in identifying songs accurately, particularly with newer tracks. Improving the song-detecting capabilities would undoubtedly elevate the user experience and make ‘Now Playing’ a truly game-changing feature.
As Google continues to innovate and refine its products, we can expect to see more updates and improvements to existing features like ‘Now Playing’. Stay tuned for further developments on this front!
