Microsoft Azure Users May Experience Latency Due to Undersea Cable Cuts in the Red Sea

In a recent update, Microsoft announced that customers utilizing its Azure cloud platform might encounter increased latency following the severing of multiple undersea cables in the Red Sea, as reported by Bloomberg.

The company stated that traffic passing through the Middle East or destined for Asia or Europe had been impacted by the cable cuts. However, Microsoft did not disclose the parties responsible for the damage or their motives.

According to a status report, Microsoft acknowledged that repairing undersea fiber cuts can be a time-consuming process. As a result, the company assured customers that it would continuously monitor, reevaluate, and optimize routing to minimize the impact on their services during this period.

By the evening of the same day, Microsoft confirmed that it was no longer detecting any issues affecting Azure services.
