Lucid Motors Sets New Sales Record in Q2
Lucid Motors achieved a significant milestone in the second quarter by delivering 3,309 vehicles, marking a 6% increase from the previous period and setting a new sales record for the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer.
In addition to the impressive sales figures, Lucid also reported a production of 3,863 vehicles in Q2, nearly 1,000 more than the previous period. The company’s production capabilities have shown steady growth, with 2,212 vehicles produced in the first quarter and an additional 600 vehicles shipped to Saudi Arabia for final assembly.
Meeting Annual Production Goals
Despite the positive sales and production numbers, Lucid still has a significant gap to fill to achieve its annual production target of 20,000 vehicles. With 6,075 vehicles produced in the first half of the year, the company faces a challenge to fill the remaining 14,000-vehicle gap.
To address this challenge, Lucid plans to ramp up production of its new all-electric Gravity SUV. Although production of the Gravity began in December 2024, the initial focus was on sales to employees, family, and friends. The company is now shifting its customer mix towards the general consumer, but production has been slower than anticipated due to tariff pressures and a focus on quality.
CEO’s Commitment to Quality
Lucid’s CEO, Marc Winterhoff, has emphasized the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Despite facing supply chain bottlenecks in the first quarter, Winterhoff assured stakeholders that the company is prioritizing quality over speed. He has expressed confidence in resolving these challenges in the second quarter and meeting production targets for 2025.
Winterhoff has also highlighted the strong customer interest in the Gravity SUV, dispelling any concerns about demand. The company’s upcoming earnings report, scheduled for August 5, is expected to provide more insights into delivery and production details.
Company Car Program and Rental Fleet Sales
Lucid’s sales strategy includes a company car program and partnerships with rental fleets, which may have contributed to its Q2 figures. The company sold around 300 vehicles to rental companies in the first quarter, primarily through leasing arrangements as part of its company car program.
While specific details on the breakdown between Lucid’s Air and Gravity models were not disclosed, the company remains focused on meeting production targets and satisfying customer demand. Lucid’s innovative approach to sales and production reflects its commitment to delivering high-quality electric vehicles to the market.
