The HMD Fusion is a revolutionary take on modular smartphones, offering users a sustainable and customizable device that stands out in the market. With its unique “Outfits” system, the Fusion aims to cater to eco-conscious individuals looking for a device that prioritizes longevity and flexibility.

Design & Build:
The HMD Fusion sports an industrial design with exposed screws and modular “Outfits” that allow for easy customization and repair. While the design may not appeal to everyone, it provides a refreshing departure from traditional smartphone aesthetics. The phone is built to last, with a rugged casing and solid construction, although it does feel a bit heavy in hand.

The display of the HMD Fusion is where it falls short compared to its competitors. With a 720×1612 resolution and 269 PPI density, the screen may not offer the best viewing experience, especially in terms of brightness and vibrancy. The large bezels also make the phone look dated compared to sleeker devices on the market.

Specs & Performance:
Powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, the Fusion delivers decent performance for everyday tasks like web browsing and social media. However, the weak GPU may struggle with graphically intensive games, limiting the device’s gaming capabilities. While it handles multitasking well, it may not be the best choice for users looking for a device with strong graphics performance.

Cameras:
The Fusion’s 108Mp main camera captures sharp and detailed images in well-lit conditions, while the 50Mp selfie camera excels in bright settings. However, the lack of zoom and poor low-light performance may limit the camera’s versatility. The phone’s Night Mode tries to enhance low-light photography but often falls short in delivering clear and detailed images.

Battery Life & Charging:
One of the standout features of the HMD Fusion is its impressive battery life, thanks to its 5000mAh battery paired with the power-efficient Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. The phone can easily last for two days with moderate use, making it a reliable choice for users on the go. While the 33W wired charging offers decent speeds, the lack of wireless charging may be a drawback for some users.

Should you buy the HMD Fusion?
Overall, the HMD Fusion offers a unique and innovative approach to smartphones with its modular design and sustainability focus. While it may not be the best choice for mainstream users due to its display and performance limitations, enthusiasts and developers may find value in its creative possibilities. The Fusion is a step in the right direction for modular smartphones, but it may not be the perfect device for everyone.
