Pixel smartphone users may soon have the option to remove Google’s At a Glance widget from their home screen.
For many Tech Advisor team members, their Google Pixel 10 phones are like an extension of themselves. However, even die-hard Pixel fans can’t ignore the persistent flaw in the Pixel Home Screen layout.
The inability to remove the At a Glance widget from the main Home Screen on a Pixel phone has been a source of frustration for many users.
While the multi-functional widget has its benefits, the inability to replace it with something else or reduce its size is a major annoyance.
Why does it have to take up so much space, anyway?
Android Authority
Glancing blow
Fortunately, there are signs that Google is working on a solution to this issue.
In the latest pre-release version of the Android OS, Android Authority has discovered a new “Show on home screen” toggle in the At a Glance settings.
This toggle suggests that in a future version of Android, users will be able to remove the At a Glance widget from their home screen. While it may still be present on the lock screen, this change would be a significant improvement.
Users have been requesting the ability to remove this widget for years, as its permanent status goes against Android’s reputation for customization. It seems that these requests may finally be granted.
