The movement to shift away from seed oils in food products is gaining momentum as more companies join the “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, highlighting the potential health risks associated with these controversial ingredients.

Real Good Foods, a popular maker of frozen meals, recently announced a major shift in its product portfolio by transitioning away from seed oils and opting for beef tallow instead. This decision comes in response to growing concerns about the negative impact of seed oils on health.

Rikki Ingram, the chief marketing officer at Real Good Foods, emphasized the increasing conversation around the detrimental effects of seed oils in the food and wellness industry. The company’s decision to eliminate seed oils aligns with a broader trend among food manufacturers to prioritize healthier ingredients.

Seed oils, derived from plants like canola, sunflower, and soybean seeds, have come under scrutiny for their potential negative effects on health. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has labeled seed oils as one of the unhealthiest ingredients in food, citing their inflammatory properties and potential to weaken the immune system.

Despite conflicting opinions from nutritionists and health experts, more companies are choosing to transition to seed oil-free products. Several brands have received certification from the Seed Oil Free Alliance, signaling a commitment to offering healthier alternatives to consumers.

Sales of certified seed oil-free products have seen significant growth, reflecting consumer demand for healthier options. Real Good Foods’ decision to switch to beef tallow has been met with positive feedback from consumers, emphasizing the importance of responding to customer preferences.

While the shift away from seed oils presents challenges in terms of supply chain logistics and production changes, companies like Real Good Foods are committed to making the transition gradually and responsibly. The ultimate goal is to offer consumers delicious and convenient food made with ingredients they can feel good about.

In conclusion, the movement towards eliminating seed oils from food products is gaining traction, with companies like Real Good Foods leading the way in offering healthier alternatives. By prioritizing consumer preferences and responding to the demand for healthier ingredients, these companies are contributing to a healthier food landscape.
