Woman Faces Felony Charges for Allegedly Tainting DoorDash Delivery
A disturbing incident in Evansville, Indiana has led to a woman facing felony charges after customers experienced severe reactions to their DoorDash delivery. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a man on December 7, stating that he and his wife had vomited and felt a burning sensation in their mouths, noses, throats, and stomachs after consuming food ordered through DoorDash.
The man discovered a red substance on the delivery bag and reviewed footage from their doorbell camera, which revealed the delivery driver spraying a substance on the food from a small aerosol can attached to her keychain after dropping off the order. The suspect was identified as Kourtney Stevenson from Kentucky, who claimed she used pepper spray to fend off a spider while working for DoorDash. However, authorities pointed out that outdoor spiders in Indiana would not be active during the winter months.
Despite Stevenson’s explanation, she refused to participate in an interview with detectives, leading to a warrant for her arrest on charges of battery resulting in a moderate injury and consumer product tampering. She is currently awaiting extradition to Indiana.
DoorDash took immediate action by banning Stevenson from the platform and assisting law enforcement in their investigation. A DoorDash spokesperson emphasized zero tolerance for such behavior, stating that the Dasher’s access has been permanently revoked.
