Just a little over a year ago, Moxion Power faced its demise, joining the ranks of climate tech companies that went bankrupt in 2024. Despite raising over $110 million to revolutionize energy solutions with portable batteries, Moxion couldn’t navigate the challenges in the industry. The company had to let go of more than 400 employees and liquidate its assets, marking the end of an ambitious journey.
Now, Paul Huelskamp, the co-founder of Moxion, along with several former employees, has embarked on a new venture called Anode Technology Company. With a shared vision of transforming the energy sector, they aim to learn from past mistakes and create a more sustainable future.
The Rebirth of Anode Technology Company
Operating discreetly until now, Anode has recently secured $9 million in seed funding, with Eclipse leading the investment round. Jiten Behl, a partner at Eclipse and the former chief growth officer at Rivian, was instrumental in the deal. Behl’s interest in the space stems from his experience at Rivian, where he discovered the challenges of establishing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
Behl noted that many businesses resort to diesel generators for power in the absence of suitable charging solutions. This gap in the market inspired Anode to develop grid-independent energy solutions tailored for various industries, including electric vehicle charging, construction sites, and event venues.
Innovative Solutions by Anode
Anode differentiates itself from competitors like Sparkcharge and Power Sonic by offering integrated hardware solutions that address the specific needs of its target markets. The company has designed an inverter optimized for applications such as EV charging, ensuring efficiency and convenience for users.
Compared to Moxion’s bulky 600 kilowatt-hour unit, Anode’s mobile battery is more compact, making it easier to transport and deploy. By optimizing for the lowest cost of energy delivery, Anode aims to revolutionize the industry’s pricing standards and make sustainable energy more accessible.

Anode has embraced contract manufacturing for its batteries, a strategic decision based on the challenges faced by Moxion in trying to handle production in-house. Huelskamp acknowledges the importance of learning from past experiences and leveraging them to drive success in the new venture.
