Google has recently unveiled Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 during the Google I/O event, introducing new UI elements alongside the standard bug fixes.

The beta version is specifically designed for Google Pixel 6 through Pixel 10 devices and will lay the groundwork for the upcoming Pixel Drop update scheduled for September. This release holds significance for Pixel users who are eager to experience early access to Android enhancements before the official September rollout.

To access the new beta version, users must enroll in the Android beta program. The update is compatible with all Pixel phones ranging from the Google Pixel 6 to the latest Google Pixel 10 series.

Notable features and changes in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3, as highlighted by 9to5Google, include the addition of new animations. For instance, launching the camera with a double press of the power button triggers an expanded Camera UI, pushing aside the lock screen. Additionally, a new ‘bouncy’ Quick Settings animation adds a playful touch to the menu.

Moreover, Google has enhanced the background blur effect in the latest beta release, emphasizing a visual approach centered around ‘Blur.’ The media player controls on the Quick Settings menu now sport a new card layout, allowing users to switch between media apps through tapping rather than swiping.

Furthermore, the screen recording menu in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 now defaults to the last used app, with added toggles for recording device audio and microphone input for improved functionality.

In terms of bug fixes, Google has addressed various issues in the latest Android 17 beta release, including Wi-Fi disconnections, audio distortions during media playback, UI glitches in full-screen mode expansion, disappearing Home Screen widgets, and more. For a comprehensive list of bug fixes, users can refer to Google’s detailed release notes.
