Android 16 QPR3 Makes Resizing Your Widgets So Much Easier

The latest update from Google, the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2, brings a new feature that enhances the user experience on the Android home screen. One of the key improvements is the introduction of a widget resizing option, giving users more control over customizing their widgets.

Previously, resizing a widget on Android required a long press and dragging the borders to adjust the size. However, with the new update, Google has added visible plus and minus buttons that appear when a widget is in edit mode. Users can now simply click on the plus button to increase the size of the widget or the minus button to decrease it.

This new option complements the existing gesture-based resizing method, providing users with an alternative way to fine-tune the dimensions of their home screen widgets. According to reports from Android Authority, the resizing buttons are compatible with various types of widgets and are designed to improve accessibility for users who may struggle with precise finger movements or gestures.

Additionally, the widget resizing buttons support Android’s wallpaper-based color theming feature, automatically adjusting to the system theme by adapting the colors from the wallpaper or the preset system color theme. The buttons can be used both vertically and horizontally, depending on the widget’s adjustability.

While the feature is currently available in the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 version, it is expected to be rolled out to the stable version in the near future. It is unclear whether the resizing buttons will be enabled by default in the stable release or if they will be accessible through the Accessibility menu as an optional setting to prevent any overlap. Google has not provided any official information on the release date for the stable version, so it is uncertain if the feature will be widely available.

Overall, the new widget resizing option in Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 simplifies the process of customizing widgets on the home screen, making it easier for users to personalize their Android experience. Stay tuned for more updates on this feature as it progresses towards a stable release.
