Global Flight Delays and Cancellations Due to Airbus A320 Series Recall
Recent news from The Guardian has revealed that Airbus has ordered fixes for 6,000 of its A320 series planes, resulting in widespread disruptions to air travel worldwide.
According to official statements from Airbus, the company is taking action after discovering that intense solar radiation could potentially corrupt critical flight control data. This decision comes in response to a recent incident involving an A320 Family aircraft.
A report from Reuters indicates that the specific event prompting this precautionary measure occurred during a JetBlue flight from Cancun to Newark on October 30. The plane experienced a sudden loss of altitude, necessitating an emergency landing in Tampa.
As a result of this incident, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued an emergency airworthiness directive mandating that affected planes must revert to previous software versions before resuming flight operations. Additionally, Airbus has noted that a subset of these aircraft will require hardware modifications to address the issue.
