Warning: Beware of Scammers Impersonating JS Staff

Thank you for being a loyal reader of JS. We have an important message to share with you regarding a concerning issue that has come to our attention.

It has come to our notice that there are scammers out there pretending to be JS reporters and event leads in an attempt to deceive companies. These individuals are using our reputable name to trick unsuspecting businesses, and we are deeply troubled by this unethical behavior.

This is not an isolated incident limited to JS; scammers are taking advantage of well-known news brands to gain access to companies within the media industry.

One common scheme involves impostors posing as our reporters to extract sensitive business information from their targets. These scammers go to great lengths to create a convincing facade, mimicking our staff’s writing styles and referencing industry trends to appear legitimate. They may request introductory calls under the guise of a standard media inquiry, only to use these conversations to extract even more proprietary details.

It is unclear what the motives behind these fraudulent activities are, but it is likely that these groups are seeking initial access to valuable networks or sensitive information.

How to Protect Yourself

If you receive communication from someone claiming to be from JS and you have any doubts about their legitimacy, it is crucial to verify their identity. You can easily do this by checking our JS staff page to see if the person contacting you is listed as a genuine employee. If their name is not on our roster, it is a clear indication that they are not affiliated with us.

Even if the individual’s name appears on our staff page, if their role does not align with the nature of the request you have received, it is likely a scam. In such cases, it is best to reach out to us directly for confirmation.

We understand that it can be frustrating to have to double-check media inquiries, but taking this extra step is essential in protecting your company from potential scams. By being vigilant and verifying the authenticity of communications claiming to be from JS, you not only safeguard your business but also help maintain the integrity of legitimate journalism.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
