Sandton City and the Riky Rick Foundation have joined forces to launch the “Words that Heal” campaign, aimed at promoting mental well-being through the power of music and messages of hope. The campaign invites South Africans to participate by sharing their own notes of healing, which will be incorporated into a collaborative song of hope to be released on streaming platforms later this year. All proceeds from the song will go towards funding free therapy for young people through the Riky Rick Foundation.
The Riky Rick Foundation, established in memory of the late rapper, is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness, artistic expression, and emotional support for youth across South Africa. The foundation’s mission, known as ‘artivism,’ aims to use creativity as a tool for positive change and empowerment.
To get involved in the campaign, individuals can submit their messages of hope by sending a voice note via WhatsApp to 063 980 5816 by August 8, 2025. Selected messages will be included in the final song, giving participants the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful and potentially life-changing project.
In addition to the collaborative song, the campaign will also feature a phase two launch during Mental Health Month in September and October. This phase will include a personal activation at Sandton City, where shoppers can listen to the completed song and Riky Rick’s latest album as a tribute to his legacy. A pop-up retail space will also be set up, offering exclusive merchandise for sale with all proceeds going towards supporting mental health care and creative youth programs through the Riky Rick Foundation.
The “Words that Heal” campaign goes beyond music, emphasizing the importance of storytelling, connection, and creating safe spaces for healing. By participating in this initiative, individuals have the opportunity to support mental health awareness and contribute to a positive cause that aligns with Riky Rick’s vision of empowering young people.
