Samsung is gearing up to unveil its inaugural 2nm smartphone chip, the Exynos 2600, later this year. This cutting-edge chip is anticipated to power the Galaxy S26 series in various markets in 2026. While initial leaks provided some insights into the technical specifications of the hardware, recent Geekbench results are shedding more light on the Exynos 2600 chip’s performance.

A Geekbench benchmark listing for the Exynos 2600 surfaced recently, revealing initially modest scores. This is not uncommon during the early stages of development, as it indicates that Samsung is actively testing and fine-tuning the chip. The good news is that subsequent tests have shown a marked improvement in performance, aligning more closely with expectations for a high-end processor.

The Exynos 2600 has now achieved impressive scores of 2,810 in single-core performance and 9,301 in multi-core performance on Geekbench. These updated figures represent a significant leap from earlier benchmarks, which recorded scores of 2,155 and 7,788 in the same tests, highlighting a substantial performance enhancement.

Despite these gains, there is still room for improvement as the Exynos 2600 currently trails behind the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in terms of performance. With the launch of the Galaxy S26 series still several months away, Samsung has ample time to further refine and optimize the chip to narrow this gap. Rumors also suggest the possibility of a Samsung-made 2nm version of the Snapdragon chip, hinting at potential surprises in the pipeline.

One standout feature of the Exynos 2600 is its utilization of ARM’s latest Travis cores, enabling it to outperform MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chip even at lower clock speeds. The chip’s advanced 2nm technology and deca-core architecture play a crucial role in delivering robust performance. Energy efficiency is also a key focus for Samsung, addressing a common challenge faced by previous Exynos hardware.

In conclusion, Samsung is making significant strides in enhancing the performance of the Exynos 2600 chip, with promising Geekbench results pointing towards a competitive offering for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. As the tech giant continues to fine-tune the chip and explore new possibilities, consumers can look forward to a powerful and efficient smartphone experience in the near future.
