Greptile: An AI-Powered Code Review Startup on the Rise
Greptile, a cutting-edge AI-powered code review startup, is currently in the midst of securing a Series A funding round. Sources close to the deal have disclosed to JS that the startup is aiming to raise $30 million at a valuation of $180 million, with Benchmark partner Eric Vishria leading the investment. However, it is important to note that the deal has not yet been finalized, and there is a possibility that the terms may undergo changes.
Founded by Dasksh Gupta following his graduation from Georgia Tech in 2023, Greptile made waves by participating in the winter 2024 cohort of Y Combinator. The startup successfully raised a $4 million seed round led by Initialized Capital after completing the renowned program.
Gupta revealed to JS last year that the AI bot developed by Greptile serves as a proficient coworker, possessing a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s code. This unique capability enables the bot to identify bugs and potential issues that might be overlooked by human reviewers.
Competition in the AI-powered code review space is fierce, with Greptile facing off against notable rivals such as Graphite and Coderabbit. Graphite recently secured a $52 million Series B funding round, while Coderabbit received a $16 million Series A investment. This intense competition has driven Greptile to enforce long working hours among its staff.
In a viral post on X, Gupta highlighted that Greptile prioritizes performance over work-life balance, with employees often working from 9 am to 11 pm, including weekends. Gupta emphasized that excelling in a competitive market requires maximum effort from every team member, as mediocrity is not an option.
