Subscription Service Might Arrive Soon

In today’s digital age, it’s common to come across various services that require a monthly subscription. Samsung Health has long been a favored health platform for those looking to avoid such commitments. However, recent reports suggest that Samsung Health may soon introduce a subscription service.

If this subscription service does come to fruition, it could coincide with the release of One UI 8 Watch. While nothing is set in stone yet, there are indications that Samsung is considering this move. In an interview with CNET, Dr. Hon Pak, Samsung’s senior vice president and head of digital health, mentioned that the company is exploring the possibility of a premium subscription model.

Subscription-based health apps are nothing new, often offering basic features like tracking and analytics. Accessing more advanced tools and insights usually requires a monthly payment. Samsung Health, on the other hand, has traditionally offered all its features for free. Therefore, the introduction of a subscription service could be disappointing for long-time users. However, existing features may remain accessible without a subscription, with new features potentially being introduced with One UI 8 Watch.

Samsung is currently testing features like a running coach, antioxidant index, and vascular load, which are planned for devices running One UI 8 Watch. These features could potentially be part of the subscription service. Details regarding the pricing of this service are still unknown, but industry standards typically hover around $10 per month, similar to Fitbit’s subscription service. Samsung may choose to match this price point or offer a more competitive rate.

More information is expected to be revealed when Samsung unveils the Galaxy Watch 8 at an upcoming event, rumored to take place in July. As the future of Samsung Health unfolds, users can anticipate potential changes and new features that may come with the introduction of a subscription service.
