Google Expands Audio Overviews Feature in NotebookLM to 76 New Languages

Google has announced the expansion of its AI-based note-taking and research assistant, NotebookLM, with the addition of Audio Overviews feature in 76 new languages. This feature, which was introduced last year, allows users to create podcasts with AI virtual hosts based on the documents they upload to the app, such as course readings or legal briefs.

The main purpose behind the Audio Overviews feature is to provide users with an alternative way to understand and digest the information present in their documents. With this recent expansion, users now have the option to generate Audio Overviews in their preferred language.

Customize Your Audio Overview Language

Previously, Audio Overviews were generated in the user’s preferred language. However, Google has introduced a new “Output Language” option that allows users to select the language in which their Audio Overviews are created.

According to Google, users can easily switch between languages, enabling them to create multilingual content or study materials as needed. For instance, a teacher preparing a lesson on the Amazon rainforest can share resources in different languages with their students, who can then generate Audio Overviews in their preferred language.

Expanded Language Support

Google has added support for a wide range of languages, including Afrikaans, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Bengali, Catalan, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, and many more. The list also includes languages like Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

With this expansion, users from diverse linguistic backgrounds can now benefit from the Audio Overviews feature in NotebookLM, making it easier for them to understand and engage with the content present in their documents.

Overall, Google’s latest update to NotebookLM aims to enhance the user experience and provide a more inclusive platform for individuals to access information in their preferred language.
