During Oppo’s recent launch event in China, the spotlight was on the Find X9 Ultra. However, the company also unveiled a range of other new devices, including tablets, smartwatches, and more.
One device that stood out to me was the Oppo Pad mini. Not only did Oppo showcase it next to the iPad mini to highlight its narrower display bezels, but it also marked the brand’s entry into the compact tablet market.
Having attended the event in Chengdu, I had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the Pad mini.

Although my time with the device was brief, it made a lasting impression on me.
As a reviewer of Android tablets, I often find them too bulky and heavy for travel. The Oppo Pad mini, however, with its slim profile and lightweight design, would have been a perfect travel companion for me.
Weighing just 279g and measuring 5.4mm thin, the Pad mini outshines the iPad mini in terms of portability and size.
The tablet exudes a premium feel with its metal unibody construction, available in Monet Purple, Space Grey, and Mint Green. It also features an optional stylus that attaches magnetically to the side.

The standout feature of the Pad mini is its impressive display, boasting an AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1600 nit peak brightness, and 344 ppi pixel density. The narrow bezels enhance the visual experience, making content consumption a delight.

Under the hood, the Pad mini packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, an 8000mAh battery, and 67W wired charging for seamless performance.
Priced at CNY 3,699 (around £400/$540), the Oppo Pad mini offers a compelling option for users seeking a compact Android tablet.
Unfortunately, the Pad mini is not slated for release in the UK, leaving consumers to explore alternatives like the Oppo Pad 5 or await potential offerings from other brands.
