Google is expanding its Gemini AI voice assistant to 16 new countries, including the UK, Australia, and various European countries through an early access rollout. The expansion includes seven new languages like French, German, and Japanese, offering enhanced conversational abilities and object recognition for Nest devices. However, the release of the new Google Home Speaker remains delayed with no updated information despite previous estimates for a spring 2026 launch.

The rollout of Google’s Gemini for Home voice assistant to more regions, such as the UK, Australia, and Europe, marks a significant development. Initially available as a limited early access upgrade for Nest smart speakers and displays in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the expansion now includes 16 additional countries and seven new languages.

Countries like Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland in Europe, as well as Australia, Japan, and New Zealand outside of Europe, will benefit from the enhanced capabilities of Gemini for Home. New languages added to the roster include Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish.

The early access rollout has already commenced and is expected to reach all eligible users and devices in the coming week. Users can either seek early access or await an invitation to switch their home to Gemini for Home in the Google Home app.

In addition to the expanded availability of the voice assistant, Google has introduced updates to the Google Home App, including enhanced Google Workspace support. Users can now invite members from different domains to their homes, migrate accounts more efficiently, and set up Nest devices through their Workspace account.

Furthermore, Google has introduced a “Public Preview” feature that allows users to transfer all older Nest thermostats, cameras, locks, and smoke alarms to the Google Home app in a single step.

Despite the anticipation surrounding the new Google Home Speaker, there is still no confirmed launch date. While the original estimate suggested a spring 2026 release, Google has yet to provide an update on the speaker’s availability. Nonetheless, with spring already underway, the launch of the new speaker is likely imminent, and users are advised to stay tuned for further announcements.
