Revolutionizing Product Strategy with AI: A Closer Look at Rocket

Indian startup Rocket is paving the way for a new era in software development by focusing on the crucial pre-coding phase: determining what to build with the help of AI. Their latest platform, Rocket 1.0, sets out to streamline the process by offering consulting-style product strategies.

Based in Surat, India, Rocket recently unveiled its innovative platform that seamlessly integrates research, product development, and competitive analysis into a unified workflow. Through this platform, users can access detailed product strategy documents that encompass pricing strategies, unit economics, and go-to-market recommendations.

Shifting the Focus from Coding to Strategic Decision-Making

With the proliferation of AI-powered coding tools like Cursor, Replit, and Lovable, writing code has become more efficient than ever. However, Rocket’s co-founder and CEO, Vishal Virani, emphasizes the importance of not just building code but also knowing what to build. He highlights that running a successful business requires a strategic approach beyond mere coding.

Having had the opportunity to test Rocket’s platform ahead of its official launch, JS observed that the platform generates comprehensive product requirement documents in PDF format through simple prompts. These documents resemble professional consulting reports rather than typical coding tools or chatbots, which predominantly focus on technical features and execution.

While some of the analysis presented in the generated reports seems to be synthesized from existing data, combining established pricing models, user behavior insights, and competitive trends, users may need to verify the outputs before making critical business decisions. Virani assures users that the platform offers human support to address any issues they may encounter.

The platform also provides insights into competitors, monitoring changes on their websites and tracking traffic trends. Leveraging data from over 1,000 sources, including Meta’s ad libraries and Similarweb’s API, Rocket ensures comprehensive competitive intelligence for its users.

Subscription plans for Rocket range from $25 per month for application development to $250 for advanced strategy and research features, with a premium option priced at $350, inclusive of competitive intelligence capabilities.

Democratizing Strategic Consulting

Virani reveals that the $250 plan can generate two to three high-quality research reports akin to those produced by top consulting firms like McKinsey, alongside assisting in product development. This positions Rocket as a cost-effective alternative to traditional consulting services, which often charge exorbitant fees for similar strategic work.

Having secured a $15 million seed funding round from investors such as Accel, Salesforce Ventures, and Together Fund in September, Rocket has experienced rapid growth, expanding its user base from 400,000 to over 1.5 million users across 180 countries. The startup boasts an impressive annualized average revenue per user of approximately $4,000 and operates at gross margins exceeding 50%, with a significant portion of its customers being small- and medium-sized businesses.

With a team of 57 employees and headquarters in Surat, Rocket also maintains operations in Palo Alto, solidifying its presence as a key player in the software development landscape.
