The Looki L1 caught my attention as one of the most unique wearables showcased at CES 2026. This tiny camera, shaped like an obscure Pokémon, is designed to be worn around the neck. It tracks your day, offers AI assistance, and even provides gentle criticism of your choices – at least in my experience.
To put the Looki L1 to the test, I decided to wear it for a full day at the CES show. While I chose a slightly quieter day for this trial, there was still plenty happening to keep me engaged.
Photo and video quality with the Looki L1 proved to be a mixed bag. While the device claims to shoot 1080p videos and take photos at the same resolution, the results varied. Outdoor footage looked impressive, but indoor shots exhibited some graininess, reminiscent of HD webcams.
Battery life is another consideration with the L1. While the AI can record for up to 12 hours in “Story Mode,” constant video recording can quickly deplete the battery, as I experienced.
The L1’s AI assistant is reminiscent of Humane’s AI Pin, offering tracking capabilities, answering questions, and providing commentary on your day. However, using the AI in noisy environments proved challenging. Despite some limitations, the L1’s AI functionality is more affordable and less intrusive than its predecessors.
One of the standout features of the Looki L1 is its ability to create a comic strip of your day’s experiences. While this feature exists, it may be more complex to use than initially expected, requiring a learning curve for users.
Despite its flaws, the novelty of the Looki L1 is appealing, especially for vloggers. While it may not match the quality of most smartphones, its ‘set-and-forget’ usability offers a unique perspective on daily activities. With further development of its AI capabilities, the L1 could become a compelling option for certain users.
Priced at $199, the Looki L1 can be purchased on the Looki website. While it may not be a standout product at CES, it offers a distinct appeal for those interested in a different approach to capturing daily moments.
