Nomad Stand One Review: What the Pixelsnap Stand Wishes It Was

For years, the one feature that kept me loyal to iPhone over Android was MagSafe.

While Android phones could replicate it with a magnetic case, the trade-off was often slower charging speeds and overheating batteries. However, with Google’s latest Pixel 10 phones introducing Qi2-powered Pixelsnap technology, magnetic wireless charging has finally arrived on Android. And Nomad’s Stand One emerges as a top accessory to fully experience this new feature.

Upon setting up my Pixel 10 Pro, I was eager to have it propped up on a magnetic stand on my desk, a familiar setup from my iPhone days.

Initially drawn to Google’s Pixelsnap Stand, I found it lacking in design and functionality for its price point of £64.99/$69.99. The silicone-like exterior easily accumulates dirt, and the overall weight of 405g feels surprisingly heavy despite the removable puck containing all the tech.

I gravitated towards Google’s Pixelsnap Stand, but unfortunately, it left a lot to be desired

Compared to the Pixelsnap Stand, the Nomad Stand One offers a more premium look and feel with its glass and metal construction. Weighing in at 575g, the Stand One’s weight is evenly distributed, ensuring stability and preventing any wobbling or toppling when interacting with the screen.

Additionally, the Stand One features a base that doubles as a 5W wireless charging pad, making it convenient for charging smaller accessories like wireless earbuds alongside your phone. This versatility makes it a preferred choice for simultaneously charging multiple devices, such as the Pixel 10 and Pixel Buds Pro.

One standout feature of the Stand One is its Qi puck design, which protrudes from the chassis, allowing for better heat dissipation and preventing the device from becoming uncomfortably warm during use. The inclusion of a 2m braided cable adds to the overall quality of the accessory.

While the Stand One’s sturdy design is a plus, its fixed 21-degree tilt may be a drawback for some users who prefer adjustable angles. However, this angle is well-suited for various activities, including video calls.

Supporting both Qi2 and MagSafe, the Stand One can deliver fast charging speeds of up to 25W when paired with a 40W adapter (sold separately). This eliminates concerns about overheating while wirelessly charging your device and allows for a seamless user experience.

the Stand One’s Qi puck pokes out of the chassis, allowing it to dissipate heat better and not become uncomfortably warm

Priced at £99/$119, the Nomad Stand One may be a bit more expensive than Google’s Pixelsnap Stand, but its superior design and functionality make it a worthwhile investment for Pixel 10 users.
